Project Bokken
Project Bokken,is the code name I have for a comprehensive series I'm currently making on YouTube. It's part wish-fulfillment, part 'how-to', part historical dive on game design, by making a series of games for both the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Nintendo Game Boy. The goal is to develop a game, going through the process of concept, design, creation, marketing and publishing.
Being two games, it's broken into two parts. The first part focuses on the development of a Game Boy game using the engine GB Studio. It's intended for those who have no experience or understanding of game development in general. The second part focuses on development on a Nintendo game using a mix of NESMaker and 6502 Assembly, focusing more on advanced topics and going deeper into prior topics building on the foundation of the prior games.
The games themselves, tentatively titled "Bōken", are going to be developed in conjunction with these videos, hopefully fully showcasing the capabilities of their respective engines and consoles.
